Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a managed and unmanaged switch?
A managed switch lets you configure VLANs, QoS, 802.1x authentication, and port security — giving you control over which devices can access which networks. An unmanaged switch simply connects devices together with no configuration. For any business environment, a managed switch is strongly recommended.
How many PoE devices can a Huawei eKit switch power?
This depends on the switch model and its total PoE budget. Smaller models (8-port) typically offer 65–130W total PoE; larger 48-port models may offer 370–740W. Each WiFi 6 access point typically draws 15–25W, so a 24-port switch with 370W can power 15+ APs. Check the specific model's spec sheet for exact PoE budget.
Is Huawei eKit equipment suitable for UAE businesses?
Yes — Huawei eKit is designed specifically for small and medium enterprises and is widely used across UAE businesses. Netbiz Technology is an authorised Huawei eKit Elite Distributor in the UAE. All equipment is genuine, comes with manufacturer warranty, and is supported locally.
Can I manage Huawei eKit switches from my phone?
Yes — Huawei eKit supports cloud management via the iMaster NCE-Campus platform, accessible from a web browser or mobile app. You can configure VLANs, monitor port status, receive alerts, and manage multiple switches across multiple sites from one account.
