The Challenge
A 500-student private school in Sharjah had no structured WiFi infrastructure. Teachers were using personal mobile hotspots for classroom activities requiring internet access — an unsustainable arrangement with security implications. There was no way for the school to prevent students from accessing inappropriate content, no visibility into network usage, and no ability to restrict student devices from accessing staff systems. The school had installed the physical cabling during the original building fit-out but had never deployed enterprise WiFi equipment.

The Solution
Netbiz Technology supplied a full Huawei eKit campus network. Twelve AP362E wall-mount access points were distributed across three floors — four per floor — covering classrooms, corridors, and the library. Three S310-24P4S PoE managed switches were installed in existing wiring closets on each floor. The AR617VW gateway was deployed at the internet edge with URL category filtering configured for the student VLAN. A Huawei eKit AC access controller provides centralised management of all 12 APs, enabling the school IT coordinator to push configuration updates, view uptime, and apply SSID policies from a single dashboard.
Network Design Overview
Internet edge: AR617VW gateway — two DHCP pools (staff and student), URL category filtering applied to student VLAN 20, unrestricted internet for staff VLAN 10.
Access controller: Huawei eKit AC — manages all 12 AP362E units, pushing SSID configuration, VLAN tags, and radio power settings centrally.
Per-floor switches: Three S310-24P4S PoE switches, one per floor. Each switch uplinks to the core via Cat6. APs connect on PoE ports in trunk mode carrying VLAN 10 and VLAN 20.
SSIDs: Two per AP — "School-Staff" (WPA3, VLAN 10) and "School-Student" (WPA2, VLAN 20, content filtered).
Content filtering: URL categories blocked for student VLAN: social media, adult content, gaming, proxies/VPNs, and unclassified sites.
