Enterprise WiFi Network for a 120-Room Dubai Hotel
Full Huawei eKit deployment across a mid-sized Dubai Marina hotel — wall-mount APs in every room, PoE-powered CCTV, and complete guest/operations VLAN separation.
The Challenge
The hotel had a patchwork of consumer-grade routers installed several years earlier. Guest WiFi was unreliable in upper-floor rooms and non-existent in parts of the ground-floor lobby and restaurant. During busy periods, the network would become congested and drop connections entirely. More critically, guest devices, hotel management systems, and CCTV cameras all ran on the same flat network — a serious security exposure. The CCTV system had also suffered intermittent outages due to unstable PoE from an aging, unmanaged switch.
What the Client Needed
- ✓Full WiFi coverage for 120 guest rooms, lobby, and restaurant with no dead zones
- ✓Guest VLAN completely separate from hotel operational systems (PMS, back office)
- ✓PoE for 24 IP cameras spread across 3 floors — no additional power cabling
- ✓Centralised management so the IT team could monitor all APs and switches from one dashboard
- ✓Scalable design allowing future expansion to additional floors
The Solution
Netbiz Technology designed and supplied a complete Huawei eKit network. Thirty AP362E wall-mount access points were deployed — one per 3–4 rooms plus dedicated units in the lobby and restaurant. Three S310-24P4S PoE managed switches were installed in floor-level distribution racks, each powering APs and IP cameras over a single Cat6 run. The AR617VW business gateway handles internet routing, DHCP, and VLAN inter-routing at the core.
Network Design Overview
Core layer: AR617VW gateway connected to ISP fibre, handling two VLANs — VLAN 10 (guest internet) and VLAN 20 (hotel operations).
Distribution layer: Three S310-24P4S switches, one per floor, uplinked to the gateway via 1G fibre. Each switch trunks both VLANs to access ports.
Access layer: AP362E units receive VLAN-tagged traffic and broadcast two SSIDs: a guest SSID (VLAN 10) and a staff-only SSID (VLAN 20). CCTV cameras connect directly to dedicated switch ports tagged to a VLAN 30 surveillance segment.
Management: All devices managed via Huawei iMaster NCE-Campus cloud dashboard — single pane of glass for AP status, switch port utilisation, and PoE power consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions
What WiFi access point is best for hotel guest rooms in Dubai?
For hotel guest rooms, wall-mount WiFi 6 access points such as the Huawei eKit AP362E are ideal. They mount directly in the room, connect to in-wall cabling, and support guest VLAN isolation so guest devices cannot reach hotel operational systems.
How do you isolate hotel guest WiFi from hotel operations?
Guest network isolation is achieved through VLAN configuration on the managed PoE switch. All guest traffic is tagged to a dedicated VLAN that only has internet access — it cannot reach the PMS, CCTV network, or staff devices.
Can PoE switches power IP cameras and WiFi access points together?
Yes. Huawei eKit S310 series PoE switches provide up to 30W per port, sufficient to power both WiFi 6 access points and IP cameras from the same switch. Total PoE budget must be calculated to ensure stable power across all devices.
