• One AP371 per corridor end and at corridor junctions: covers corridor guest access and supplements room coverage
• One S310-48P PoE switch in the floor's network riser room: 370W × 2 ports or a dedicated 740W model handles 30 rooms with PoE passthrough
• One fibre SFP+ uplink from floor switch to core switch in main server room
• Cat6 cable from each room AP to the floor switch (max 90m run)

The ground floor has different requirements: open spaces need ceiling APs rather than wall-plate APs, and there are more infrastructure connections (POS terminals, printers, CCTV cameras at entrance).

Captive Portal and Guest Internet Access

The Huawei eKit Enterprise Gateway (EG) provides captive portal functionality: guests connect to the hotel WiFi SSID and are redirected to a customisable login page before getting internet access. The portal can collect name and room number (linking usage logs to specific guests as required by UAE regulatory requirements) and apply per-room bandwidth policies.

Bandwidth management via the EG allows the hotel to set per-user or per-room download and upload limits — ensuring no single guest can saturate the hotel's internet uplink during peak hours.

IPTV Multicast Configuration

IPTV in hotel rooms uses IP multicast — the TV content is broadcast to all rooms simultaneously rather than unicast to each room individually, which would require enormous bandwidth. The eKit switches must be configured for IGMP Snooping: this ensures multicast traffic is only forwarded to switches and ports where a TV is actively subscribed to a channel, rather than flooding all ports.
