Huawei eKit App: How to Manage Your Network from Your Phone
By Netbiz Technology LLC · 13 September 2026

The Huawei eKit app replaces what would traditionally require a web browser, command-line SSH sessions, and a deep knowledge of networking configuration. It provides a visual, guided interface for deploying and managing Huawei eKit switches, access points, and gateways from an Android or iOS phone. For UAE businesses without an on-site network engineer, it is the key reason eKit is viable.
What the eKit App Does
- Zero-touch provisioning: add a new device by scanning its QR code — configuration is pushed automatically
- Network topology view: visual map of how all your devices connect to each other
- Device management: view port status, PoE status, firmware version, and device health
- WiFi configuration: create and modify SSIDs, set WPA3 passwords, configure VLANs
- Client monitoring: see which devices are connected, their IP address, signal strength, and data usage
- Alert management: receive push notifications for offline devices, high CPU usage, security events
- Remote management: manage your network from anywhere with an internet connection
- Firmware updates: push firmware updates to all devices simultaneously
- Reports: view network usage history and bandwidth graphs
Getting Started: Installing and Logging In
Search for 'Huawei eKit' in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Install and create a Huawei account (or sign in with an existing Huawei ID). Once logged in, you will be prompted to create a 'Site' — this is a named group of devices representing your network location (e.g., 'Dubai Office' or 'Hotel Main Building'). You can manage multiple sites from one app account, making it straightforward to manage network infrastructure across several UAE locations.
Adding Your First Device: Zero-Touch Provisioning
The zero-touch provisioning process is the same for all eKit devices — switch, AP, or gateway:
- 1. Connect the device to power and network (Ethernet cable to an upstream switch or router)
- 2. Wait 60–90 seconds for the device to boot and connect to the eKit cloud
- 3. In the eKit app, tap 'Add Device' within your Site
- 4. Choose 'Scan QR Code' and point your camera at the QR code on the device label
- 5. The app confirms the device is discovered and asks you to name it (e.g., 'Floor 2 Switch', 'Room 201 AP')
- 6. Tap 'Provision' — the app pushes your site's baseline configuration to the device
- 7. The device appears in your topology view with a green status indicator
If the device is in a remote location (another branch or a hotel room you cannot physically access), a non-technical staff member can connect the device and scan the QR code from their phone — you receive a notification in the app and can complete provisioning remotely.
How to Set Up a WiFi SSID
- 1. In the eKit app, navigate to 'WiFi' or 'WLAN' settings for your site
- 2. Tap 'Add SSID'
- 3. Enter the network name (SSID) — e.g., 'CompanyWiFi' or 'GuestNetwork'
- 4. Select security: WPA3-SAE, WPA2/WPA3 mixed (recommended), or WPA2-PSK
- 5. Enter the WiFi password
- 6. If using VLANs, select the VLAN ID to tag this SSID's traffic
- 7. Enable client isolation for guest SSIDs
- 8. Tap 'Save' — the configuration is pushed to all APs in the site automatically
The SSID immediately appears on all provisioned APs. You do not need to configure each AP individually — this is a significant time-saving compared to platforms where each AP requires its own web-based configuration.
How to View Connected Clients
The 'Clients' section of the eKit app shows all devices currently connected to your network. For each client you can see:
- Device name and MAC address
- IP address (from your DHCP server)
- Connected AP or switch port
- WiFi signal strength (RSSI in dBm)
- Current data usage (uplink and downlink Mbps)
- Time connected
This view is particularly useful for UAE hotel IT staff who need to identify which room or guest is consuming excessive bandwidth, or for office managers investigating a slow network — you can see at a glance if one device is downloading large files and throttling the connection for others.
Alerts and Notifications
The eKit app sends push notifications for critical events. Configure alerts for:
- Device offline: any AP or switch loses connection — important for immediate fault response
- High CPU or memory utilisation: early warning before performance degradation
- Rogue AP detected: an unknown AP in your airspace
- Port error rate exceeding threshold: usually indicates a cabling problem or faulty device
- Firmware update available: keep devices current with latest security patches
Multi-Site Management for UAE Businesses with Multiple Locations
UAE businesses with branches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah can manage all locations from a single eKit app account. Each branch is configured as a separate 'Site', with its own device inventory and configuration. Switching between sites takes one tap. This is ideal for retail chains, clinic groups, and hotel groups with properties across the UAE.
